Ronaldo Fires Madrid to History

The unstoppable Cristiano Ronaldo struck twice as Real Madrid beat Juventus to win their 12th European Cup and become the first team to defend the title in the Champions League era.
Madrid opened the scoring against the run of play with a brilliant break, ending with Dani Carvajal teeing up Ronaldo to drill home from just inside the box in the 20th minute.
However Juve were soon level with an even better goal, a spectacular Mario Mandzukic overhead kick which arced beyond Keylor Navas and into the net.
The Croatian’s 27th minute strike brought back memories of Zindine Zidane’s volley in the 2002 final against Bayer Leverkusen.

Substitute Juan Cuadrado was sent off late on after tangling with Sergio Ramos, although the Madrid man’s playacting sealed his expulsion.
