De Gea's Saga close to end

Tabloid Report Cracks Open Closed De Gea Saga With Claims of Deal With Real Madrid for £100m

The David de Gea saga was recently closed. Real Madrid had given up and reliable sources had long insisted that Manchester United had no intention of selling anyway, while the player himself was not agitating for a transfer. Reports in Spain recently admitted that Real coach Zinedine Zidane retains faith in Keylor Navas, and Gianluigi Donnarumma's refusal to sign a new AC Milan contract, coupled with strong rumours of interest from the Bernabeu after the door was closed on De Gea, all point to a move to Madrid for the 18-year-old Italian this summer, or next.
However, the Daily Star is determined to crack open the De Gea saga again, with fresh claims that United would be willing to sell the goalkeeper for a deal worth £100m.

The tabloid report focuses on what appears to be a hypothetical quote from an unspecified 'insider', suggesting that a part-exchange including Alvaro Morata and a sizeable cash payment would be enough to convince United to let go of their star stopper.

"De Gea - as long as Real pay £45m and Morata," the source claims.

In reality, United appear to be fast closing in on a deal for Morata anyway, with no mention of De Gea being involved, and could have secured the striker by early next week.

Tellingly, the rumours about United safeguarding themselves against De Gea's possible exit by drawing up a list of replacements have also died down. Rumours about Jan Oblak, Samir Handanovic and Donnarumma were rife just a few short weeks ago, but since Real's interest in De Gea has ended, so too has any need to sign a goalkeeper at Old Trafford.

Rumours surrounding De Gea will continue to occasionally surface right until the very end of the transfer window on 31st August, but if they're all as weak as this one United fans have little reason to worry.
